Janine
IT STARTED WITH A TWEET
One Sunday afternoon in late February 2021 Melbourne mum Janine Hendry got angry.
She was angry at the Morrison government’s handling of the Brittany Higgins allegations and then further angered by the allegations that then Attorney General Christian Porter denied. She was angry at the gut wrenching stories of horrific sexual violence in schools.
Janine put out a Tweet asking women to join her to protest at Parliament House in Canberra.
Volunteer leaders around Australia created events in more than 200 towns and cities. 110,000 women and their allies stood up, spoke up and were heard around the world.
